Bespoke seating

Some of the most popular products in our portfolio have been borne as a result of our customers asking us to create something to suit the design style of a particular project.
Everything we sell is made at our factory so we also have the ability to amend dimensions of standard product and to value engineer to a specific price-point with minimal impact on lead time.

Our process

For any bespoke project, whether a completely new design or the tailoring of dimensions to meet specific space requirements, we adopt the same four-stage process:  Discover, Design, Develop, Deliver.

Discover

Our design team will start by understanding exactly what you are looking for – the style of seating, the setting, the type of use, the look and feel you want to achieve. If you have drawings or images for us to work from, that is always helpful, but even if it is just a vague concept we will work with you to refine it into something we can then design.

Design

We use Solidworks to create the technical drawings that bring your requirements to life. We design to minimise any raw materials wastage and to maximise manufacturing efficiency so that we are able to give you not only the tangible result you are looking for but also a price that represents genuine value.

Although the design process starts with the frame, that has to be constructed in a way that enables it to be upholstered so every element in the manufacturing process has to be considered right from the start while always keeping in mind the desired end product.

We know how important it can be to be able to visualise a new design or to ensure that bespoke dimensions do actually fit the space they are intended for, so we are able, when required, to prepare both 2D space planning and 3D renders.

Develop

There are a myriad of variables in the development of any bespoke item, any of which can make a significant difference to the look, the style, the feel of the finished product.  That could be the direction and location of seams, the patterns that can be created with different sewing lines, the use of special finishes like piping, fluting or buttoning, the odd pops of colour or contrasting fabrics. It is all about working with you to develop exactly the look you want.

Deliver

Once you are happy with all the details, our production team come into play to work their magic and turn the design into reality. Having all our soft seating manufacture under our control means that even if you need something in a hurry, we will do our utmost to deliver to your timescales. There have been occasions when we have needed to respond very quickly to the demands of a particular project and we have not yet been unable to do what was needed.

We are also used to dealing with changing timescales and have the space here at our factory to store items if things get delayed.

These are a few of the bespoke designs we have created recently, all of which are now available as part of our standard portfolio:

Bespoke Pod

Working with The Business Supplies Group (TBSG), we created bespoke meeting booths for their client:

“Our client required meeting pods that matched the dimensions and style of booths already in situ. We approached rhbr because the additional pods needed to be of superior quality. rhbr created a bespoke design from the specification we supplied and were extremely helpful in advising on fabrics suitable to achieve both the aesthetics to complement the existing colour scheme, and ensuring durability to meet the demands of a busy office environment. Once again rhbr has been a pleasure to deal with, turning our brief into a visual concept and delivering high quality meeting pods that our client is delighted with.”

Delaunay

Originating from a client’s simple sketch, the art deco inspired Delaunay is a sleek and sophisticated sofa designed originally to mirror the curve of a client’s circular rug.

Harlan

When Berkely Homes asked us to work with them on their development at The Green Quarter in London, there were a number of pieces we created specifically for the project.  Harlan featured in the main public lounge space.

Brompton

Brompton was another design created specifically for The Green Quarter development.  The armchair with a swivel plate base provided the main seating for the cinema room.

Segment Sofa

The Segment Sofa was designed for a reception area in one of Berkeley Homes’ Birmingham developments.
