Points of difference – how to engage the senses

Someone very influential in seating design once said to us “In the end, a chair is a chair…”

Well of course that is true BUT it doesn’t take much to turn a simple chair into something with a real edge that engages the eye and captures the imagination. And that is all about appealing to the senses.
Being a manufacturer means we have the freedom to let our creativity loose and find those small details that make the impact.

Fabric choice makes an instant difference to the entire style – classic wool for an elegant and more traditional look, velvets are very much back in vogue and come in a vast array of styles, contrasting seat and back to jazz things up, brighter colours to provide a “pop” of interest, muted or pastel tones to provide calm, and a limitless number of textures and finishes each of which will can completely change the whole look of a sofa or a chair.

Sewing lines add a different dimension to either a seat or a back:
– Contrasting thread colour
– Top stitching to finish edges
– Piping for emphasis
– Horizontal, vertical, diagonal stitching to create patterns or panels

Fluting, whether deep fluting to create the effect of separate segments, or simply a quilted finish to the upholstery, is a contemporary technique, particularly popular in hotels and hospitality.

Buttoning is another way to create impact and emphasis with different colours for additional impact.

The selection of legs or feet also can completely change the overall look of a piece – tell us what you are looking for and we will find the solution.

The possibilities are enormous but we are there to guide you through the process, from fabric selection to upholstery techniques.

Let us help you create the point of difference.
