Sustainability Credentials

We talked last week about what environmental responsibility means to us and about the fact that we are constantly looking for ways in which we can improve our working practices and reduce waste of every type.

We thought a couple of current examples would help to illustrate the strides we are making all the time.

With our fellow businesses in Thame, our most recent agenda item has been the elimination of single use plastics and we have been recognised for our efforts in that respect with the plastic free business champion badge.

There is still work to be done but we are on the way.

Fabric waste has always been a challenge but we are in conversation now with a manufacturer who would be able to use all our fabric waste as part of their raw materials input – more on this in the next few weeks.

We have mentioned previously that David Matthews, one of our founders, sits on the steering committee of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme and he has also now been invited to join the global advisory committee of the SME Climate Hub. We joined this organisation a couple of years ago when we were looking for a robust but straightforward method of measuring carbon emissions so that we could monitor our progressive reduction in our carbon footprint. We would encourage everyone who is serious about this to register with the Hub.
