Trends in Furniture Design – Multi-Functionality
We live in an ever-evolving world. The past five years have seen huge changes in lifestyles and working patterns driven by a whole variety of events and technology developments – covid to AI, climate change and the pressing need for sustainable solutions to the increased focus on wellbeing.

Here at rhbr, we do not pretend to be at the forefront of innovation but we do take a keen interest in all the emerging trends. Over the next few weeks we thought we would share here how we are approaching some of those trends.
First, multi-functionality: “the ability or property of something to perform multiple functions or purposes”. We don’t make anything like this but it’s a great example.

Both living and working spaces have been shrinking as costs rise, making multi-functional furniture a necessity rather than a rarity. In homes that has brought a raft of space-saving ideas.
In commercial interiors, multi-functionality finds its way into a number of areas:
Pouffs and ottomans that can be used for storage.

Shelving that doubles as room dividers, for which we make upholstered panels.
Stools that can be stored on shelves when not in use.

Just some ideas to feed into the mix.
