Why FISP matters.

Sustainability, the circular economy, re-use, reduction of carbon footprint, eco-friendly, recyclable and recycled materials – in short, the entire climate agenda has catapulted to the forefront of agendas. And not before time.
For those of you who may not be aware, FISP is the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme, a national body whose principal aim is to assist its members in reducing their adverse impact on the planet. The organisation promotes best practices to drive social, economic and environmental change by continually improving members’ business operations.

We are proud to say that one of rhbr’s founders sits on the Steering Committee, which, in itself, is recognition of our genuine commitment to sustainability in every aspect of our operations.
FISP accreditation is not a process to be taken lightly. Their audits are extremely robust, but also constructive, meaning that anyone who has sustainability at the forefront of their agendas can take a great deal of confidence in a FISP accredited manufacturer.
It is true that not all tenders require FISP accreditation, but the number that do is growing and it may well become a mandatory requirement at some point in the future, simply because of the rapidly growing importance of the climate agenda.

Whether or not it is required, having the accreditation is concrete proof that a business is committed to a sustainability programme and, as a buyer, your use of a FISP accredited supplier is evidence of your sustainability credentials.
